Cake – I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor cover)

Yesterday, the Kings beat the Philadelphia Flyers in what was a much more interesting game than I anticipated, since the last time two teams played one another, it was a snoozefest. It was Jeff Carter’s first time in Philadelphia in a Kings uniform. Flyers fans booed him and Mike Richards, but Carter responded by scoring a goal. So did another ex-Flyer: Justin Williams.

When the Kings played against his other former team, the Carolina Hurricanes, Williams said, “It’s kind of like seeing an ex-girlfriend… You come here, you’re happy to see ’em, you want to show ’em you’ve still got it.”

I think that probably applies to Philly for him, Carter, Richards as well. Job done. They grabbed two points, they packed their things, and they got out of there.

Later, losers!

Now, it’s on to Washington, DC! The last time the Kings were in the nation’s capital — which was a year ago tomorrow — they were being celebrated by President Barack Obama.

Holler at your Stanley Cup Champions.

Tonight the Kings are in town to face the Washington Capitals. It hasn’t even been a full week since any of us have had to think about those players, but now it’s time to watch out for Alex Ovechkin’s shot from the left point on the power play again. Last week, the Kings only allowed one goal while playing the Capitals, so if they can stick to one or less again, they probably have just as good a shot at coming away with the two points.

The Glitch Mob (feat. Swan) – Between Two Points

Speaking of points, here’s where the Kings stand in the race to clinch a playoff spot.

They have 10 games left, and all of their April games are against divisional rivals. The Kings would of course benefit from collecting points sooner rather than later, and facing a struggling Capitals team followed by a forever-injured Penguins team could give them the opportunity to do that a little bit before heading home.
