Ahead of the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, former Kings player Rob Scuderi and current Kings head coach Darryl Sutter shared their opinions on how good Anze Kopitar is at playing hockey.

The regular season drawing to a close means NHL awards consideration is picking up in earnest. Kings fans have long held up Kopitar as a player who deserves recognition for how talented and consistent he is. This season’s no different.

Midway through the season, Neil Greenberg put together a case for why Kopitar should be among players in the MVP conversation. Jewels from the Crown posted a great write-up explaining why the Selke trophy should come down to a two-person battle between Kopitar and Patrice Bergeron.

I don’t have any unearthed stats for you, but I did come across one of my favorite pictures of Kopitar again and realized this #Kopitar4Selke campaign could take its award pitch game to Academy Award level.

Eat your heart out, Jonathan Toews. Move right on over, Sidney Crosby. Pavel Datsyuk? Forget about it. Anze Kopitar’s ready for his close-up.
